Infosys System Engineer Salaries in India
The "System Engineer" role at Infosys is the starting point for thousands of engineering graduates annually. Infosys operates a tiered salary structure for freshers, heavily dependent on how you enter the company (campus placement vs. HackWithInfy).
(Note: Salaries are quoted in INR per annum and represent standard fresher packages.)
The Three Fresher Profiles
Infosys has diversified its fresher hiring to attract top coding talent by offering three distinct profiles:
- System Engineer (Standard): ₹3,60,000 (approx. 3.6 LPA)
- The entry point for most campus hires and standard InfyTQ candidates.
- Systems Engineer Specialist (SES): ₹5,00,000 (approx. 5.0 LPA)
- Requires passing a more advanced coding assessment.
- Power Programmer (Specialist): ₹8,00,000 - ₹9,50,000 (approx. 8.0 - 9.5 LPA)
- Reserved for top performers in the HackWithInfy competition and elite campus coders.
Salary Breakdown (Standard Profile - 3.6 LPA)
While the CTC is 3.6 LPA, you must understand the in-hand breakdown, especially considering the initial training period.
- Training Period (Mysore): During the initial 3-4 months of training at the Mysore campus, your in-hand salary is usually slightly lower (around ₹15,000 - ₹18,000) as accommodation and food deductions are factored in.
- Post-Training Salary: Once deployed to a project, your full salary structure activates.
- Basic Salary: Forms roughly 30-40% of the CTC.
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): Usually 40-50% of the basic salary.
- Performance Bonus: A variable component paid out based on company and individual performance.
- Deductions: PF (Provident Fund), Professional Tax, and Gratuity.
Estimated In-Hand Salary: For a 3.6 LPA System Engineer, the monthly in-hand salary (after PF and tax deductions, post-training) typically ranges between ₹24,000 to ₹26,000, depending on the city of posting.
Salary Growth and The "Bridge" Program
Salary growth in the first few years at Infosys requires proactive effort.
- The Bridge Program: Infosys offers internal initiatives like the "Bridge" program. If you join as a standard System Engineer, you can clear rigorous internal technical assessments (focusing on niche skills like Full Stack, Cloud, or AI) to upgrade your profile and salary to the Specialist band within your first 1-2 years.
- Annual Appraisals: Standard annual hikes generally range from 5% to 8%, depending on your performance rating. Without clearing internal certifications or upgrading your skills, salary progression can be slow.
