Data Scientist Salaries in the City of Gold
Data Science is one of the most elite technical roles in Dubai. Because true data scientists (those who can build deployable predictive models, not just Excel dashboards) are rare, salaries are exceptionally high and tax-free.
(Note: Salaries are typically quoted in AED per month in Dubai. For consistency, we have provided the annual equivalent in AED.)
Average Salary by Experience Level
- Junior Data Scientist (0-2 years): 140,000 AED - 200,000 AED per annum
- Mid-Level Data Scientist (3-6 years): 240,000 AED - 400,000 AED per annum
- Lead Data Scientist / Head of AI (7-10+ years): 450,000 AED - 700,000+ AED per annum
Salary by Industry Sector
1. Banking and FinTech (DIFC)
- Mid-Level Pay: 280,000 AED - 450,000 AED.
- The Profile: Building complex risk models, algorithmic trading bots, and fraud detection systems. This sector demands absolute precision and offers the highest compensation. Advanced degrees (Master's/PhD) in quantitative fields are highly valued here.
2. E-commerce and Super Apps
- Mid-Level Pay: 250,000 AED - 380,000 AED.
- The Profile: Dealing with massive consumer datasets, optimizing "last-mile" delivery routes, and building dynamic pricing models. High demand for Machine Learning Engineers who can deploy models to production.
3. Government and "Smart City" Tech
- Mid-Level Pay: 200,000 AED - 320,000 AED.
- The Profile: Analyzing traffic patterns, public health data, or real estate trends. Highly stable roles with excellent long-term benefits.
The "Deep Learning & NLP" Ceiling Breaker
If you only know basic regression and clustering using Scikit-learn, you will cap out around 300,000 AED. To push past 500,000 AED, you must master Deep Learning and NLP (Natural Language Processing). With Dubai's diverse linguistic population (Arabic/English), engineers who can build customized LLMs or sentiment analysis tools for regional dialects are incredibly rare and highly paid.
