Cracking the Wipro HR Interview
The Wipro HR interview is usually the final hurdle. It is typically short, highly standardized, and focuses on weeding out candidates who lack basic corporate professionalism.
The Interview Stages
The HR will quickly assess your spoken English, your flexibility, and your attitude towards corporate rules.
1. The Flexibility Test
Like all IT giants, Wipro needs deployable resources.
- "Are you willing to work across any technology?" (Say yes. Wipro often trains freshers in proprietary tools or legacy systems based on client demand).
- "Are you comfortable signing the service agreement?" (Acknowledge and agree. Questioning the bond at this stage will lead to immediate rejection).
2. Behavioral & Situational Queries
- "Tell me about a time you worked under extreme pressure."
- Structure your answer using STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Talk about a final year project deadline or a hackathon. Focus on how you managed time, not just how hard you worked.
- "How do you handle criticism?"
- "I treat it as data. If a senior points out a flaw in my work, I take notes, fix the issue, and ensure I don't repeat the same mistake."
3. The "Why Wipro?" Question
Do a bit of research before the call.
- Mention Wipro's commitment to sustainability, the philanthropic work of Azim Premji, or their strong presence in cloud infrastructure. This shows you care about this specific company, not just getting any job.
4. Salary Expectations
- If you are a fresher, never negotiate during the campus or mass-hiring HR round.
- Answer: "I am expecting the standard package offered to freshers as per Wipro's company policy." Negotiating here will only backfire.
