The Infosys Business Analyst Interview Guide
Infosys is a global leader in digital transformation. Business Analysts here frequently work on modernization projects—taking a client's legacy system and helping rebuild it as a modern, cloud-native application.
The Interview Stages
Infosys looks for candidates who possess strong "Learnability" (their core corporate ethos) alongside solid BA fundamentals and excellent client-facing communication skills.
Round 1: Core BA Concepts and Documentation
- Focus: How you capture and structure information.
- Question: "Walk me through the structure of a standard Business Requirement Document (BRD)."
- Question: "What techniques do you use for requirement elicitation when the client is unsure of what they actually want?" (Discuss workshops, prototyping, and shadowing).
Round 2: Agile & Process Mapping
Infosys projects require clear visualization of business processes.
- Scenario: "The client wants to automate their employee onboarding process. Draw a quick process flow (or explain the steps logically) to show how you would map the 'As-Is' state to the 'To-Be' state."
- Agile Focus: Be prepared to write a User Story on the spot. Remember the format: "As a [user type], I want to [action] so that [benefit/value]." Crucially, do not forget to add detailed Acceptance Criteria.
Round 3: Situational & Stakeholder Management
- Question: "You have gathered the requirements, but the offshore technical lead says the requirement is technically impossible to implement within the budget. The client insists on it. What is your next step?"
- The Approach: Demonstrate diplomacy. You act as a mediator. Ask the tech lead for alternative, cheaper solutions that achieve 80% of the business goal. Present these trade-offs clearly to the client.
Round 4: Domain Knowledge & HR
- Depending on the specific Infosys account you are being interviewed for (e.g., Retail, Banking, Telecom), you will be asked basic domain questions.
- HR Check: "Are you willing to travel onsite (international) for 3-6 months if the project demands it?" (This is a common requirement for senior BAs at Infosys).
Final Advice: Emphasize your ability to bridge the gap between "Business Speak" and "Tech Speak." Infosys values BAs who can listen to a client talk about revenue goals and successfully translate that into API and database requirements for the engineering team.
