The Freshworks Content Interview Guide
Freshworks is a global SaaS company competing directly with giants like Salesforce and Zendesk. Their content must appeal primarily to a US and European audience. The interview process is heavily focused on inbound marketing and B2B storytelling.
The Interview DNA
You are interviewing for a "Content Marketer" role, not just a writer. You must know how your words generate revenue.
Round 1: The "Inbound" Test
- Question: "What is the difference between writing for the Top of the Funnel (ToFu) and the Bottom of the Funnel (BoFu)?"
- The Answer: ToFu is educational (e.g., "What is Customer Service Software?"). BoFu is highly persuasive and brand-specific (e.g., "Freshdesk vs. Zendesk: Which is better for 2026?").
Round 2: The Editing and Style Round
You will be given a poorly written, highly technical draft from a product manager.
- The Task: Edit it for a non-technical audience (like an HR manager buying software).
- The Focus: They look for active voice, short paragraphs, bullet points, and the elimination of fluff. You must write in US English (e.g., "Optimize," not "Optimise").
Round 3: Competitor Teardown
- Scenario: "Look at the Zendesk blog. What are they doing right, and what are they doing wrong? How can Freshworks beat them in search rankings?"
- The Strategy: Discuss creating longer, more comprehensive "Ultimate Guides," adding original data/surveys to the posts, or creating better infographic assets.
Round 4: Marketing Metrics
- "You wrote a 2000-word blog post. How do you measure if it was successful?"
- The Answer: Do not just say "Page views." Discuss Time on Page, Bounce Rate, and most importantly, how many readers clicked the CTA (Call to Action) to sign up for a free software trial.
